Abstract:
In studies carried out in July 2016 in the Andean forests and paramos of the province of Carchi, two new species of the genus Drosophila were discovered, and Parascaptomyza clavifera was recorded for the first time. The species were captured above 3 260 m. Flies were captured using perforated bottles containing pieces of fermented banana mixed with yeast and by direct aspiration from flowers. The two new species are: D. carchensis sp. nov. and D. cuasmali sp. nov.
